Laura earned her BA in History from Alverno College in Milwaukee, WI.  She has worked in public, academic, special and medical libraries.  She earned her MLIS at San Jose State University through their online program.  Outside of libraries, she had been a Peace Corps Volunteer in Uzbekistan and Armenia.  A favorite quote of Laura's by Helen Keller sums her up best: "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing."

Laurie Bastien, Reference Librarian

Laurie earned a Bachelor of Arts in English degree from the University of Massachusetts, and her teaching license from Fitchburg State University in Massachusetts. While working in the public library system in Overland Park, Kansas, Laurie realized that while she'd never be a real-life Nancy Drew or Amelia Earhart, she could pursue a career as a librarian, which is essentially like being a detective and explorer all wrapped up together. Laurie earned an MLIS from the University of South Carolina. While working toward her library degree, Laurie taught English at the High School level. Some of her favorite books she always loves to recommend include To Kill a Mockingbird, The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns, and The Weight of Silence. She has been working for the University for over 15 years.

He graduated from Indiana University with an MLS and recently completed an MBA with Purdue University Global, where he has worked for over a decade. He lives in Chicago, within walking distance of a major source of both his joys and frustrations, Wrigley Field. You can contact him here.
